The Estrella de Oro concession covers an old historic gold operation centered along several northeasterly trending structural vein zones comprising of quartz veins and breccias, hosted within strongly-altered crystal lithic tuffs. The southerly vein zone is approximately 12m wide and poorly exposed over 400m strike in old trenches and pits. Rock channel samples assayed trace to 21.5 g/t Au over 2m and 22.4 g/t Au over 1m, and visible gold was noted in some samples.
Permits have been received for exploration work to commence and camp installation is now complete, with work commencing in January 2008. In the Cerro Estrella area, old mine workings are present along two parallel and north-easterly trending structural zones and comprise quartz veins and breccias hosted within crystal and lithic tuffs. The most southerly vein contains visible gold and is approximately 12m in width and exposed over some 400m in old trenches and pits. The zone remains open to the northeast and southwest. Rock samples of vein material taken by Radius assayed from trace to 21.5 g/t Au.
The work program will consist of prospecting, trenching and sampling of the known vein systems at Cerro Estrella to define the strike continuity of the mineralization. Pending positive results from trenching, early drilling is likely given the poor exposure to better define the geology, width and grades of mineralization below the saprolite or weathered zone. Prospecting of the remainder of this large property is also being undertaken including stream sediment sampling to identify additional areas of mineralization.
