Radius upgrades high-grade trench results from El Pavon, Nicaragua

 News Release 2004-08

Vancouver, June 22, 2004. Radius Explorations ("Radius") is pleased to report high grade gold results from its rock-saw check sampling program at El Pavon in Nicaragua. Highlights include a best result of 40.7 g/t Au over 8.35m from trench TRP-2 and 8.1 g/t Au over 16m from trench TRN-1.

As part of the on goingongoing work at El Pavon, a selection of the original reconnaissance trenches were re-sampled using a rock saw to cut continuous channel samples across the veins. Trenches TRP2, 4, 6, 7 and 13 were re-sampled on Pavon Central, and trenches TRN1-6 and TRN13 were re-sampled on Pavon North. Rock saw channels were cut because this generally yields a more consistent sample across the vein than chip sampling. Wherever possible, the check samples were taken across the same sample widths in the same locations as the original samples. The locations of the trenches are given on trench maps on Radius' web site (www.radiusgold.com).

The majority of the check channel results fall close to the original sample results (see Table). Duplicate sampling from Pavon North returned results that are consistently 10-30% higher than the first passs results across similar widths. Results from Pavon Central are mixed with some higher grade results over slightly narrower widths.

However, of particular note is the new result from trench TRP-2. First pass sampling in TRP-2 yielded a best interval of 21.7 g/t Au over 8.35m. Rock saw check sampling has nearly doubled the average grade to 40.7g/t Au over 8.35m.

Further rock saw trench sampling is in progress at El Pavon. Recent trenching has focused on the Brisas and Astrid structures. Geological mapping and a full soil sampling program covering all of the known structures are also underway.

The El Pavon low sulphidation epithermal vein system was discovered by Radius in 2003. The veins are hosted by a series of intermediate to felsic volcanic lavas, ignimbrites and tuffs. Radius' field teams have identified at least 6 potentially major veins or mineralized structures on the property within an area covering at least 10km by 4km. Most of the work to date has focused on the Pavon North and Pavon Central veins (see maps on www.radiusgold.com).
