Leading Supplier of Silver & Gold
The world's leading supplier of silver (112.3 million oz. in 2007) and seventh-largest supplier of gold, Peru boasts a long and celebrated mining history. Mining remains a principal industry today and makes up roughly 6.5% of the country's $76 billion GDP. Peru is also Latin America's largest producer of gold, zinc, tin and lead, and it is the region's second-largest producer of copper.
Perú is host to some of the largest and lowest cost precious and base-metal mines in the world, with the majority of the world's major mining companies including Anglo American, Xstrata, BHP-Billiton, Newmont, Rio Tinto and Barrick present in the country. Recent world-class discoveries and mines include Yanacocha, Pierina and Alto Chicama (gold) and Antamina (copper-zinc).
Our Strategy in Peru
Radius's strategy in Peru is the discovery/acquistion of quality projects that show potential for the delineation of significant gold-equivalent resources. The Rubi property is Radius's first project in Peru and fits perfectly with this approach.
